Now That's Touchy!

I was reading a copy of my alma mater's alumni magazine recently when I came across this rather remarkable letter to the editor accusing the magazine of liberal bias (emphasis below is mine):
I had hoped that U.Va. Magazine would not contain the political biases infecting most of the mainstream media, but the Summer 2007 issue destroyed my hopes.

In the article titled "Promises Kept," the authors included the phrase "the Bush administration’s War on Terror." This is a mantra repeated over and over by the Democrats and the mainstream media. One of the Democrats seeking the presidency claims there is no "War on Terror." In fact, there are millions of radicalized Muslims preaching daily that their goal is to destroy Israel, the United States and all other infidels. We most definitely are in a war of survival against these terrorists. I am thankful that we have a leader with the courage to take this fight to the enemy.

...

I am not surprised to see political biases in the U.Va. Magazine. The city of Charlottesville voted almost 4 to 1 for Democrat Jim Webb over U.Va. alumnus George Allen. This is a very good indicator that the U.Va. "family" has a huge tilt toward Democrats and away from Republicans.

I would prefer that you keep political opinions out of the articles. However, if that is not possible, then at least include the opposing views. Not all U.Va. alumni are left-leaning Democrats!

So now referring to "the Bush administration's War on Terror" makes you a font of liberal bias? Who knew? It's not like the Bush administration has ever touted their "War on Terror."

Sorry, but making terrorism worse is not my idea of fighting terrorism, so the Bushie approach is in fact uniquely theirs. How are we supposed to refer to the policies of any administration according to this guy?

I find this a rather illuminating example of how the Republican elite have trained their followers to see liberal phantoms everywhere.
